Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in the part of Montreal called"the West Island. This West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a vast part that stretches from Lachine until the west. The West Island is frequently referred to as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was short. Brugel grew on Courtice located just outside Oshawa in Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an actress, However, following a dramatic growth spurt her partners weren't able to dance with her. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels, I'm 6 feet and 1 inch." As I got bigger than my male counterparts, I gave up. Many former dancers turn to acting and in the instance of Brugel, it was an urging by her drama teacher. She was encouraged to try out for roles in her school's production. The teacher who suggested that she take on a part in the annual school production. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. In the last 20 years, the roles played by Brugel in the world of television and on the screen have varied. Her role as Rita in the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor for Season 1 of the series, and not seen much.
